Top 3 Things to do on a Rainy Day in Fukuoka

Because the rainy season can be really tough..

· fukuoka,Parks,Onsen

While it can be easy to hunker down at home or shop in the Tenjin Chikagai on a rainy day, getting out and doing something healthy can be really rewarding.

So in honor of today's rainstorm (and the impending rainy season), here are my top picks for healthy, fun things to do in Fukuoka when bad weather hits.

Itoshima Roadtrip

If you've got wheels, Itoshima is a surprisingly beautiful place to visit on a rainy day. On your way there (selection is much better earlier in the day), stop at the Michi-no-Eki Itosaisai (on Google maps) to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies, and fish for dinner.

As an alternative to the beachside cafes, head to ItoAguri (on Google maps). Listen to the sound of the rain from their comfy second floor cafe and enjoy a mug of organic coffee, or a warming bowl of curry made from local produce.

Head to an Onsen

What could be better than soaking in a hot onsen pool? Why, soaking in a hot onsen pool, outside, while it rains.

There are a few onsen right in town, easily accessible by public transport, and with outdoor baths.

Go to the Park

I love going to Yusentei Park (on Google maps), but as nice as it is on a sunny day, it's definitely more relaxing and atmospheric in the rain. Entry into the Japanese garden is ¥200, and for ¥300 you get a matcha tea set and the right to hang out in their beautiful tea house as long as you like without getting hassled.

What do you all like doing during rainy season? Let me know in the comments :)
